1G is the first generation of wireless mobile communication technology. It brought analog telecommunications standards which were introduced in 1980s and were used until 2G replaced it with new digital telecommunications standards.
The first commercially automated 1G cellular network was launched in Tokyo, Japan by NTT in 1979.
