Tecno Pova Curve 2 is a slim phone, stil packs a 8,000mAh battery. On paper, that sounds impressive, but we still need to look all the features before being a phone.
Design
The first thing I noticed was the design. The Pova Curve 2 looks slim and stylish. It has curved edges on both the front and back, which makes it feel thinner than it actually is. Even with an 8,000mAh battery, the phone is just 7.42mm thick and weighs 195g. That is impressive. I like the cyber style design at the back. The patterns and branding give it a unique look. The camera module is thick, but it does not make the phone wobble on a table.
However, the matte polycarbonate body feels slippery. It also attracts fingerprints. The IP64 rating is good for basic protection, but it is not something I would fully trust around water.
Display
The phone has a 6.78 inch 1.5K AMOLED display. It looks sharp and bright. I had no problem using it outdoors. Colours are punchy, and videos look good. Tecno claims 144Hz refresh rate, but mostly it remains between 60Hz and 90Hz.
Software
The phone runs HiOS 16 based on Android 16. I actually enjoyed using it. It looks inspired by iOS, especially with the depth effect wallpapers. Even the home screen icons move around depending on the wallpaper. It looks cool, but sometimes it becomes annoying.
There are many customisation options. I could change themes, icons, and fonts easily. The AI tools are useful too. The object eraser works well, and the translator supports Indian languages.
There are many preinstalled apps, but I removed most of them. After that, the experience felt clean and smooth.
Performance
The phone uses the MediaTek Dimensity 7100 chip built on a 6nm process. In daily use like scrolling, chatting, and watching videos, it feels smooth. But once I started gaming, the limitations became clear.
Heavy games like Call of Duty Mobile run at medium settings by default. During fast action, I noticed frame drops and lag. The phone also gets warm on the front side.
Benchmark scores are much lower than competitors in this price range. For a mid-range phone, I expected better performance. If you are a serious gamer, this is not the right choice.
Cameras
The back looks like it has three cameras, but only one is usable. It has a 50 megapixel main camera. In daylight, photos look decent. The dynamic range is okay, but the details are not very sharp. Landscape shots lack fine details. The 2X zoom works in good light, but quality drops quickly.
Low light photos are softer and lose detail. Night mode helps a little, but not much.
Selfies are good in daylight. Edge detection in portrait mode is not very accurate. Video recording is limited to 1080p and 2K. There is no 4K option. Videos are stable, but details are average.
Overall, the camera feels more like a budget phone camera than a mid-range one.
Battery
Now let us talk about the main highlight. The 8,000mAh battery sounds huge. In my use, I easily got around one and a half days with normal usage. I did not need to charge it every night.
However, with heavy usage like gaming and camera use, it behaves more like a 5,000mAh phone. It still lasts a full day, but not much more.
Charging is surprisingly fast for such a big battery. With the 45W charger in the box, it reached around 73 percent in one hour and was fully charged in about 1 hour and 24 minutes.
Final Thoughts
After using the Tecno Pova Curve 2, I feel it is a phone with one clear focus: battery life. It looks good, and the software is enjoyable. But performance and cameras do not match the price. If you want a stylish phone with long battery life for casual use, this phone can work. But if you want strong gaming performance or better cameras, there are better options in this segment.
