The Vivo T4x 5G tries to solve a common problem in the budget segment. It is not easy to find a well balanced phone under Rs 15,000. Most devices in this price range compromise on either performance, camera, or battery. After using the phone, it feels like Vivo has focused more on performance and battery rather than cameras and display. That makes it a bit different from typical Vivo smartphones.
Design
The review unit came in the Marine Blue colour. The back panel has a glitter style pattern. The design may feel subjective because some people may like it while others may not. The pattern looks good and gives the phone a slightly unique look.
There is also a small ring light on the back which Vivo calls Dynamic Light. It works for notifications, calls, and charging indication. It is not meant to be used as a flashlight.
On the durability side, the phone gets an IP64 rating for dust and water resistance. That is a good addition in this price segment. However, the display does not have strong protection. A drop could easily damage the screen, so using a case or screen protector would be a good idea.
Display
The phone features a 6.72 inch IPS LCD display with FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Colors on the display look quite punchy for an LCD panel. Usually LCD screens look slightly dull, but that is not the case here. Brightness is also decent. During testing, the peak brightness reached around 900 nits, which makes the phone usable outdoors.
One limitation is the contrast level. Since it is an LCD panel, the dynamic range is not as strong as OLED displays. Images sometimes look a little less sharp compared to phones with OLED screens.
Performance
Performance is clearly the highlight of this phone. Benchmark testing showed impressive results for this price range. In AnTuTu, the phone scored higher than several competing devices, including the Poco M6 Plus, CMF Phone 1, and OnePlus Nord CE4 Lite 5G.
Geekbench results were also strong and competitive for the segment.
A 20 minute CPU stress test showed stable performance without any throttling. This suggests good thermal management and processor optimization.
In everyday usage, the phone handles multitasking, gaming, and regular tasks without noticeable problems. The only weak point is the software experience. The phone runs on Funtouch OS 15 and the interface feels cluttered due to several pre installed apps.
Camera
The phone has a dual rear camera setup with a 50 megapixel main sensor and a 2 megapixel depth sensor. On the front, there is an 8 megapixel selfie camera. The main camera captures bright and colorful photos. Images look vibrant and have decent detail in good lighting conditions. The quality is good enough for casual photography and social media. Portrait shots sometimes look overly contrasty and edge detection could have been better. Low light performance is surprisingly good for a budget phone. Even in very dark scenes, the phone manages to produce usable photos with decent light control.
The front camera also performs reasonably well and captures sharp selfies with balanced colors.
There is no ultrawide camera here, but that is common for phones in this price range.
Battery
Battery life is one of the strongest parts of the Vivo T4x 5G. The phone packs a 6500mAh battery and supports 44W fast charging. With normal usage, the battery can easily last close to two days on a full charge. Battery consumption during testing was quite low. Fifteen minutes of gaming and thirty minutes of video streaming consumed only around 4 percent battery. One hour of navigation on Google Maps used roughly 3 percent.
Charging the large battery takes some time. A full charge from 0 to 100 percent takes around 1 hour and 38 minutes.
Final Thoughts
The Vivo T4x 5G stands out as a performance focused phone under Rs 15,000. It offers stable performance, strong battery life, and decent cameras for the price. The display is good enough for everyday use and the overall experience feels balanced. There are still some areas for improvement. The UI feels cluttered and better display protection would have made the phone more durable. Even with these drawbacks, the Vivo T4x 5G offers a strong overall package in the budget segment.
