Xiaomi Redmi Y3

Xiaomi Redmi Y3 is a selfie phone for those who just want a good camera performance. SO, the company has given users an alternate to Redmi Note 7 with a better camera and slightly low performance.

Design

Red Y3 comes with a beautiful gradient-finish design that the company calls Aura design. The back of the phone also exhibits different colors on different angles. The phone is well built and looks really good. Buttons have been placed at easy to reach positions and offer tactile feedback. The fingerprint sensor is on the back.

The phone has volume rocker on the right along with a power button. The left side has a triple card slot. It has a headphone jack and IR blaster on the top. The base side has micro USB and speaker grille.

The phone also has Splash resistant P2i nano coating and Gorilla Glass 5 for scratch protection.

Display

Redmi Y3 comes with a 6.26-inch, dot notch HD+ display. The display looks good but it could have been brighter. The phone also lacks support for Widevine L1. T

Performance and Software

The phone packs Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 632 chip that is being paired with 3GB or 4GB of RAM. You will be satisfied with the performance but not with the gaming. The phone will show no sign of lag in day to day usage, but gaming will not be as smooth. Intensive games will run on low settings. So, graphics will not be as good as in Redmi Note 7. The 3GB RAM models also struggle to keep m multiple applications open in memory.

The phone runs on MIUI that comes with lots of built-in features to improve the overall experience. But Ads in UI will surely irritate many of the customers. Still, I appreciate few notable features like dual apps, dual space, app lock and options to customize the look and feel.

Camera

The phone has 32 megapixels front camera that clicks brilliant selfies. If you take lots of selfies, this camera will not disappoint you. Not just normal photos, it also impresses with its portrait shots. The HDR mode even boosts colors to make photos better.

There is a dual camera that includes 12 megapixels primary and 2 megapixels secondary sensor. This setup also works great and captures photos with good details and colors. Portrait shot has also been improved with better edge detection.

Battery

The phone packs 4,000mAh battery which comfortably lasts for over a day. If you are not a power user, you will get around 2 days of battery backup. It takes around two hours and 40 minutes to fully charge the battery.

Verdict

Redmi Y3 is a good phone that does everything fine but stands out of the crowd due to its selfie camera performance. If you really want a good selfie camera in the budget, Redmi Y3 is for you. Otherwise, Redmi Note 7 is there as a good allrounder budget phone.
