Tebibyte definition
A Tebibyte (TiB) is a unit of measurement for digital storage, equal to 10^12 bytes or 1,099,511,627,776 bytes. It is commonly used to express the capacity of computer storage devices such as hard drives and solid state drives, as well as data transfer rates in networking. It is equivalent to approximately 1,024 Gibibytes (GiB). The prefix "Tebi" comes from the binary system of measurement. In the International System of Units (SI) units, the prefix "tera" is used for powers of 1000, which would make 1 TiB equal to 1,000,000,000,000 bytes, but in digital storage and data transfer, the prefix "tebi" is used to indicate powers of 1024.
