UEFI definition
UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) is a firmware interface for PCs that replaces the traditional BIOS (Basic Input/Output System). UEFI provides more advanced features and capabilities compared to BIOS, such as faster boot times, support for larger hard drives, and a more secure boot process. It also provides a more modern interface for interacting with the firmware, allowing for mouse support and a graphical user interface. UEFI is becoming the standard firmware interface for new PCs and is required for running 64-bit versions of Windows 8 and later.
