What is What is Yobibyte? - Definition?

Yobibyte definition

A yobibyte (YiB) is a unit of measurement for digital information storage. One yobibyte is equal to 2^80 bytes, or approximately 1,208,925,819,614,629,174,706,176 bytes. It is a multiple of the byte, which is the most common unit of measurement for digital information storage.

Yobibyte and other similar units like zebibyte ( ZiB) and exbibyte (EiB) are used to express extremely large quantities of digital data. These units are part of the International System of Units (SI) and are used to measure digital storage capacity, as well as data transfer speeds and other related parameters.

It is important to note that these units are not widely used in practice, as the amount of storage they represent is far beyond the capabilities of current technology. For example, a Yobibyte of storage would be enough to store the entire contents of every computer hard drive in the world several times over.

In practice, storage capacity is typically measured in terabytes (TB) and petabytes (PB) and data transfer rates are measured in megabits per second (Mbps) and gigabits per second (Gbps).
